October 2023
With threaded needle
Slip and prick soft fingerpad
Drawing crimson blood
Hear the angry wind
Its loud shrieking and wailing
As the storm rages
The soft, feathered leaves
Brush past in gentle caress
From green grevillea
Warm scent fills the house
Wafting out from the oven
As bread slowly bakes
Trim and smooth the stems
Of flowers cut from their bush
To put in a vase
Picking ripe mulberries
Fingertips stained vivid red
Tongue stained with sweet juice
With gossamer thread
Deftly looping round needles
Creating fine lace
Tongue lolls out panting
Tired claws click on the path
Walk home from the park
Hear the crashing waves
Briny breeze blows in cool spray
White crests hit white sand
Rustling long thin leaves
On the weeping willow's boughs
Swaying in the breeze

Evening chill creeps in
Sky fills with pinprick starlight
As night's dark shroud falls
Feather on the ground
Perhaps shed as bird took flight
Fallen from its wing
Watch the waddling ducks
Once such fuzzy little things
Now they're all grown up

On a full moon night
The man in the moon looks down
How much has he seen?
