On the riverbank

Hidden by a misty haze

The sun creeps upwards

Cawing and cawing

Black silhouette in a tree

A most verbose crow

Hanging out to dry

Colours faded by the sun

An old favourite shirt

The rising round moon

Fills the night with silver light

Dispelling the dark

A restful evening

With a penguin paperback

Sitting on the porch

Light caught on water

Shimmering silver ripples

As rivers rush on

Purple blue flowers

Gently drifting down like snow

Carpeting the ground

All across the grass

Cheerful yellow flowers

Blossoming with spring

With sun and water

And seeds buried in damp earth

Hope for sprouts in spring

Just before the dawn

The frost-coated world sparkles

Then melts into day

As year's end draws near

Snow falls not as flakes of frost

But as purple blooms

Dusty fireplace

Sits empty through summer's heat

Waits for winter's chill

A lake's still surface

Reflecting back azure blue

Of the sky above

Ripples in clear pool

Golden shapes dart back and forth

As koi fish cavort

On a moonlit stroll

Watch your step for twisting roots

Hide in deep shadows

Summer's heat rolls in

Underneath the scorching sun

Leaves wither away

Spilt across the earth

Like twisting silver ribbons

Rivers wend their way

From woody gumnuts

Grow soft fringes of stamens

Blooming bonfire red
