August 2023
Sun creeps through curtains
Beneath warm cosy blankets
Sleepers slowly wake
Rain recently cleared
Scent of damp earth fills the air
Worms have come to life
One step then the next
Walk along a winding road
Marking your progress
As the day goes on
The sun creeps slowly downwards
Bathing the world gold
Shoots of bright new leaves
On the weeping willow's boughs
Swaying in the breeze
As the years pass
Pencil marks scratched up the wall
Marking how we grow
Clinging to grass blades
As the dawn sun encroaches
Dew drops are glistening
Sitting by the pond
At the sunny start of spring
Watching for ducklings
